Meet the team here at ABLDR
Jason - Founder/Director/Trustee

Jason is one of the three original co-founders of A Better Life Dog Rescue, founded in 2011 to help vulnerable dogs find safety, care, and loving homes.

Jason is responsible for the technical management of the charity’s website and plays a vital role in coordinating the transport of rescue dogs from Romania. Now living in Romania, Jason is also overseeing the development of our deluxe dog shelter, a major project that will provide a safe haven for up to 1,500 dogs in need.

With many years of volunteer experience across multiple rescues—particularly working with German Shepherds—Jason brings extensive practical knowledge of dog welfare, rehabilitation, and re-homing. His long-standing commitment and hands-on approach are central to the charity’s mission and impact.

Outside of rescue life, Jason is (by his own admission) a lifelong West Ham supporter.

Lesley - Trustee/Admin Manager

This is Lesley, who is a retired teacher and administrator. Lesley and her team are responsible for completing all the administration work required within A Better Life Dog Rescue.

When she was born, her parents had a dog and she hasn’t been without a dog, or dogs since. Lesley has a married son who rescued a Golden Retriever and a daughter who has a Lurcher taken away from an abusive home.

Lesley and her husband, who fortunately is as crazy about dogs as she is, have three of their own dogs. One is a Farm Collie, and two ABLDR dogs, Lucky a Terrier Cross and Rosie, a Pekingese Cross.

Whenever possible  Lesley, and her husband, love taking all the dogs off to France for a well earned break.

Liz - Adoptions Manager

This is Liz. Liz is a retired mental health nurse, currently working part time at a care home for people with long term mental health difficulties.

Liz has always had dogs, mostly rescue dogs. She lives with her husband Tony, also an animal lover.

Although Liz lives in the town she is lucky to have a big garden with heaths and woodland nearby. Over the past three years she has adopted three ABLDR dogs and fostered many more. Many of them have been long term foster residents and her foster role developed into helping those dogs adapt to to a home environment. Liz was motivated to do this after visiting our Dog Shelter in Ineu, Romania

Liz also volunteers for guide dogs as a sight guide and also enjoys spending time with her grandchildren

AnnaMaria - Fundraising Manager

This is AnnaMaria. AnnaMaria has called London home for the past 15 years. She works in the Maritime Industry and is an integral part of ABLDR as she runs our fundraising department. Being Romanian herself, AnnaMaria is all too aware of how dire the situation is in Romania in relation to the stray dogs treatment and plight, therefore ABLDR is very close to her heart. Archie (pictured) is Anna’s first dog. She had been waiting a long time for her perfect dog, and Archie is just that. Of course, he is an ABLDR dog.

Anna is married and her hobbies include traveling, hiking, going to gigs and festivals. She is also an avid detective book reader.

As Anna quotes “There is nothing that this team can’t handle”

All staff at A Better Life Dog Rescue are volunteers. We dedicate our spare time to rescuing and rehoming dogs from Romania and Portugal into loving homes in the UK.

No one receives a salary, pension, or financial reward. We put the needs of these vulnerable animals above our own, often contributing our own time, effort, and even money to give them a better life.

This is why donations and fundraising are so vital.

Even a small contribution—just £1—can help provide medical care, food, and comfort for these defenceless dogs who rely entirely on our support.
