This is Bowie (affectionally known as Bo) . Firstly let me tell you all his good points!
He is currently in a foster home in the UK where he is living very contentedly with several dogs of different sizes. He is housetrained – never had an accident! He eats well and is very gentle when he takes a treat. Although he gives a bark when someone comes to the door, he stops straight away. Because he is an active, bright little chap, we think he would respond well to training. Outdoors, Bo is ok with traffic, enjoys his walks and doesn’t take much notice of people and other dogs he meets.
Now the downside – yes, you knew there was going to be a downside – Bo doesn’t like being stroked by strangers…
We don’t know what happened to this poor little guy in Romania but it takes him a long time to trust people. As you can see from the photos above, Bo is happy to sit on his foster carers’ knees and snuggle up with them on the settee – however – he has been with them over six months. Now, after three months, he is fine with their daughter who visits regularly.
It’s a big ask but we are wondering if there is someone out there who would like a little companion and will give him his own space, possibly for several months, until he builds up a bond and is prepared to trust them, someone who perhaps doesn’t have many visitors and would be happy to put him behind a safety gate when they do, so he feels safe.
This little man needs someone who will give him time and space initially, someone with previous dog experience who has time to train him and help him gain confidence. He could also enjoy having a female doggy playmate.
Patience is the key with him. He is a young dog and we think he will continue to improve as long as we can find him the right home.

All potential adopters will have to undergo a screening and home check process. This can take between 1-10 days dependant on available volunteers to perform your home check. All volunteers for ABLDR are unpaid and do this in their spare time whilst also holding down regular daytime jobs. Please be patient whilst we complete these checks. They are set to protect not only the dog but also you, the adopter, from adopting the wrong dog for your family. If you wish to adopt one of our lovely dogs, please fill in an Adoption Application form and one of our adoption team will be in contact with you. We aim to contact all new adoption applications within 48 hours. (Initial contact may be made by email, so please check your email junk folder)
